MEET MELISSA

My Treatment Focus

My goal is to help individuals manage difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I believe positive change can happen when individuals take the time and space to get to know themselves.  I can help you achieve this by providing a neutral and safe space, listening to you and/or your child's concerns, and developing collaborative treatment goals.  From there, treatment becomes solution-focused and aims to help individuals get back to a manageable state of mind.

My Experience

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I have over 15 years of experience. This enables me to offer effective, evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to children, adolescents, and adults.  After completing my Masters in Social Work (MSW)  at Kean University, and becoming licensed, I completed a post-graduate program at NYU, focusing on the treatment of adolescents.  I was trained at the BECK Institute and received accreditation by The Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT), as a certified diplomat. In addition, I am certified through The Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC) in the treatment of hair pulling and other body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Prior to starting my private practice I was a therapist at Summit Medical Group- Behavioral  Health and Cognitive Therapy Center for over 10 years. During that time I was fortunate enough to supervise several therapists, helping them develop skills to become certified in CBT.

Outside of the Office...

...you can find me cooking up new recipes in the kitchen, enjoying the outdoors, and spending quality time with my husband and two children.
