TREATMENT MODALITIES

Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Individual CBT aims to teach children, adolescents, and adults to become their own therapist through evidence-based and solution-focused interventions.  It helps individuals to understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and to learn when those patterns are useful versus not.  Another component often used is exposure therapy,  which helps individuals decrease avoidance and face their fears, to better manage anxiety and distress.

Parental Guidance Sessions

Along with the child's individual sessions, this time is an opportunity to meet alone with the  parent/guardian to discuss interventions and how best to support the child's treatment.  Since individual CBT is not typically recommended for children under the age of 7, parents/guardians often find it helpful to meet with me to develop interventions to support the child at home.
